It’s getting to that point in the year again, where hundreds of tennis fans mark their calendars for their favourite event, with a number of prestigious summer tournaments remaining.
Those fans not lucky enough to secure tickets to Flushing Meadows for the US Open though, can take advantage of numerous free live streams, though it is advisable that you have strong internet connection, of at least 10mbps, or are in a Wi-Fi hotspot, such as a café or a bar.
With virtually every match covered, there is no reason to miss a single shot, with the action at Flushing Meadows usually serving up a tennis treat.
Monte Carlo Masters
In 2014, Croatian star Marin Cilic produced some sensational tennis to beat a valiant Kei Nishikori in three sets, though has struggled for form this season, recently losing to Novak Djokovic, who thrashed him in the quarter finals of the Monte Carlo Masters, going onto win it.
Djokovic, who lost to Rafael Nadal in the 2013 final of the US Open, is producing some world-class tennis currently, and could be a real contender next time out. He faced Nadal in the semi-final in Monte Carlo, in what was a great showdown, and quite possibly the 2015 final at Flushing Meadows.
Having beaten the current US Open champion, Cilic, Djokovic at the time gushed: “Just all in all it was probably the best match I’ve played so far in the tournament. That’s what I want, what I wish for in this moment. I like the way I’m playing right now,” Djokovic said. “I’m trying to impose all the variety in the game that I have.”
Easy to stream
When the US Open arrives, Djokovic could well be in contention to win the Grand Slam, and is likely to be one of the favourites in the betting for the tournament, and viewers will be able to hook up easily to stream his matches.
“I think the most important period of the year is coming up right now,” said Djokovic.
“Obviously Roland Garros and Wimbledon are the priority. That’s where I want to perform my best, but we’ll take it step by step and see how far I can go,” he said.
“In the end, I’m sitting here with this trophy that is very special to me, of course,” said Djokovic of his victory in Monaco. This is what matters. Sometimes winning ugly is necessary. It’s been a remarkable start of the season for me. The fact that now I have won three Masters in a row, that nobody ever has done that – that has given me, even this week, more motivation.”
Come September, he could have dominated the tennis season, adding a US Open victory to his record.
