Maurizio Sarri preparing for next season with Chelsea

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has said that he is preparing for the forthcoming season with the Blues despite the regular speculation regarding his future. The west London giants have endured a mixed campaign where they have struggled to find the consistency, but they are still on course to finish in the Champions League positions.

Speaking to reporters, the Italian tactician said that he is only focused on the performances of the team while talks have already begun over the plans for next pre-season, he said: “We were talking about the programme of the next pre-season, so we were trying to organise in the best way the next pre-season. [Speculation] is not a big problem, the problem is the results. The rest is not important in this moment. I want to win for the team, for the club, not for me. So it’s not important. I was confident in the past, I am confident now but I want to think only about our performances and our results.”

Sarri’s position with the Blues came under question last month after the club were ashamed 6-0 on the road to Manchester City in the Premier League. However, the 60-year-old has managed to sort the team’s performance thereafter and they have conceded just one goal from the past three games including the League Cup final against Pep Guardiola’s side which was decided through a penalty shoot-out after a 0-0 scoreline.

The Blues are currently on a run of successive league victories and the outcome sees them within two points off the top four with the extra game in hand. Still, the Capital outfit would be aiming to secure Europa League success by the end of the season, given winning the competition offers them another route to enter the Champions League. Chelsea are scheduled to host Dynamo Kiev during the first leg of the round of 16 tie on Thursday.
